Ireri Krueger
Figurative ceramic sculpture from Boone, North Carolina. Ireri Krueger shapes clay into heads, busts, and wall masks that give physical form to emotion, memory, and the subconscious.
Each sculpture becomes a way of confronting what feels intangible, and translating it into something material and visible.
A body of work in clay
Ireri's sculptures range from quiet wall masks to figures caught mid-transformation. Each piece begins as a question about an inner state and ends as something you can stand before.
From Mexico City to the Blue Ridge Mountains
Ireri Krueger's path to clay runs from the art schools of Mexico City to the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. She trained in painting, sculpture, and etching at the storied La Esmeralda before earning her BFA in Ceramics from Appalachian State University.
Today she works from Boone, building figurative sculpture that draws on her cultural roots and the texture of daily life. Her work has been shown at the Blowing Rock Art & History Museum, and she continues to study the figure in clay with the sculptor Cristina Córdova.
